Brother Benno Foundation

The goals of the Brother Benno Foundation are to see that, within the limits of our resources, no one in our area goes hungry, no one goes without shelter or clothing, and most importantly, no one goes without someone to care for him or her. We also strive to help our guests attain self-sufficiency.

We are the hands and feet of Jesus as we serve the hungry and homeless. We serve breakfast at Brother Benno’s every 4th Wednesday at 6:00am.

Prayer Chain

We believe and hold steadfast that prayer changes lives and that God hears each every prayer we send to Him. If you have something on your heart that you want our church to pray for email us with the prayer request and we will pray for you.

Prayers & Squares

Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach organization that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt. Unlike many other groups that make quilts for charitable causes, the purpose of Prayers & Squares is not to make and distribute quilts, but to promote prayer through the use of quilts. Our motto is: “It’s not about the quilt; it’s all about the prayers.”

Since Chapter 222 of Prayers and Squares was founded at SLRVUMC over 300 quilts have been donated to those in special need of prayer. Members have come and gone but their purpose, to provide prayer quilts, remains the same. Along with the large quilts, the quilters have made an unknown quantity of mini-quilts and pocket squares for the church, as well as special pocket squares for the blessing bags.
Last year we also took on the challenge of making a quilt for each child who is a resident at Operation Hope. As of the end of 2018, we have been able to provide 133 quilts for those children. For meeting information please call the office at 760.758.9817.

Care Team Ministry

Our team is dedicated to meeting monthly to share joys and concerns, pray for our church family and others and to prepare and send cards of encouragement and love to those who are experiencing challenges, or are dealing with grief or celebrating momentous occasions. We have also provided rides and visited those who are home-centered on an informal basis. We meet the fourth Thursday of every month at 2:00 p.m. unless there is a scheduling conflict.

“Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are My disciples.” John 13:34 Indeed, we are privileged to serve.

Arts & Crafts Group

The Arts & Crafts Group is meeting at a new time. Join the group Wednesdays at 10:00am in the choir room. All are welcome. We have painters, card makers, those who color, sewists, knitters, crocheters, etc.
