Vision and Mission

Vision

We believe that each of us is “beautifully and wonderfully” made by a creator God, and invited to bring that true humanity together with others who seek to grow more deeply rooted in that belief. In that journey that we take with Christ, we experience a deeper sense of peace amidst the world and a sense of purpose for life itself.

For others, maybe you, the answer isn’t so clear. You may wonder: does the bible have guidance I can use right now? Can it help me find meaning and purpose in my life? Will the pastor connect past and future? Will this community welcome my whole family? Do I belong?

Mission

We seek to live out that belief in a variety of different ways. Like breathing, we inhale with reflection and openness to God’s presence in the world. We exhale that inspiration and depth with actions that enhance that experience for ourselves and others. As a church body, we are able to experience ourselves in community, committed to God’s presence, responding in faith, with Christ as our focus.

How we respond in faith…

Worship

In worship we remind ourselves of the way God sees the world, become fed with a more ‘grace oriented’ view of life, and leave inspired to bring that perception back into the daily lives we live.

Spiritual Development

Through prayer, study, and reflection we become more attuned to the Spirit’s urging and presence in our lives. This is a practice that involves both the mind and the spirit as we seek to have our beings move more closely with who God would have us be.

Service and Mission

We often serve God by serving each other. Our care starts in service to each other. Those in our community know that we all are an extended family in this church, ready to bring Godly love in the form of rides or meals, prayers and hugs. We also partner with different agencies in our larger community who serve the different social justice needs in our city.

Fellowship and Outreach

In faith communities the Greek word, koinonia, has come to mean more than just community. We think of it as the result of coming together. It’s the power of people united! In that spirit we do gather for fellowship and care. This includes everything from beach bonfires and picnics to concerts and shows. (United Methodists are also quite famous for potlucks!) We also look to these ministries as an entry point into the faith community. For some, these events in the Christian spirit can feed their souls. For others, the gatherings can become the start of a journey into deeper faith and meaning in life.
